The end is in sight! Testing will be conducted tomorrow (June 2nd) on the draw span of the Hood Canal Bridge. 20 perfect openings must be made before it is considered to be safe. The count must begin all over if even the last one fails. All said, the successful 20 cycle tests are some of the few remaining things that have to be done before the bridge can reopen. Rumor has it that we will see the bridge open before the weekend, and guests of George Washington Inn will be delighted!
June 2 Update: Unfortunately the draw span testing had to be moved to tomorrow. A further update will be provided late tomorrow evening.
June 3 Update: The bridge passed the 20 test mark and it looks like the bridge will open. In fact, it did indeed open just after 10 PM. Click here for news on the celebrations.
