Enjoy the best of both worlds. Just 40 minutes west of George Washington Inn is Lake Crescent Lodge. The lodge, built in 1916, sits on a beautiful lake and provides a great jumping off place for an easy hike into the forest of the Olympic National Park. Their restaurant is a nice destination all by itself. Lake Crescent Lodge is just one of the many Olympic Peninsula sites you can enjoy from this Port Angeles B&B inn.
The difference in the weather is amazing. Located in the rain shadow of the Olympics, the inn experiences less than 20 inches of rain a year and much more sunshine than Seattle and again as you head west from the inn towards Lake Crescent Lodge.
Here’s a short video clip of the ferry ride across the Puget Sound and of the Lake Crescent Lodge. Don’t be fooled by the empty ferry in the off season. It will fill up over the summer months. You can avoid any summer ferry congestion by coming around the southern tip of the Puget Sound and heading north over the Tacoma Narrows bridge.
